Best Pokémon Card Rip Packs

Every Pokémon pack we've measured, from every site that sells them. Ranked by the typical rip — the median return real pulls delivered, where half came back above and half below. Not a published estimate and not an average one grail can carry. 8 more Pokemon packs are still being sampled.

Every figure here is measured. Mean is every dollar of card value out over every dollar in — the expected value, and what this board ranks on, because over enough rips it is the figure that describes what a pack does. Typical rip is the median of the same sample: half of real pulls came back above it, half below. Where the mean sits far above the median the pack is jackpot-driven — you usually lose, occasionally win big. A mean needs a sample behind it, so Min. pulls is yours to set, and packs below it leave the board rather than sitting on it with a figure we would not stand behind. Packs we haven't sampled aren't on this board — an odds-derived estimate turned out not to predict what comes back, so we no longer rank anything on one. Returns are gross. How you cash out — cash, crypto or store credit, and at what buyback rate — is a property of the brand rather than the pack, so it lives on each site's card. Costs are in USD; gem-priced sites at the 1¢ base rate.

Pokemon card rips, in detail

Pokémon is the biggest category in card ripping by a distance. Twenty-one of the sites we track sell Pokémon packs, 191 of those packs are in our catalogue, and around 630,000 sampled pulls sit behind the ones we rank. Nothing else on this site comes close for evidence.

That scale buys something useful: the ranking here is not a guess. Collector Crypt's Elite Pokémon Gacha pack alone has been sampled more than 129,000 times, and Courtyard's $25 Pokémon Starter more than 8,000. When a figure on this board says 106%, it has been earned.

The board above ranks every Pokémon pack we can measure by the typical rip — the median return, where half of all sampled pulls came back above and half below.

Our verdict

The deepest and best-evidenced board on the site, and one where the choice of pack genuinely matters. The typical Pokémon rip returns about 80% of the pack price with an average near 102%, but the range is enormous: Shiny's $15 Beginner pack and Courtyard's $25 Starter both typically return over 106%, while several $1.50 Gacha rips typically return under 20%. The pattern that holds is not "cheap is good" — it is that the established operators' entry and mid-priced single-card packs measure well, and the ultra-cheap novelty rips do not.

What the measured pulls show

  • 191 Pokémon packs catalogued across 21 sites — the largest category by far.
  • Around 630,000 sampled pulls sit behind the packs we rank.
  • The typical rip returns about 80% of the pack price; the average returns about 102%.
  • That gap is the jackpot: a few enormous pulls carry the mean well above the median.
  • Shiny's $15 Beginner and Courtyard's $25 Starter lead at about 107% and 106%.
  • The weakest are $1.50 Gacha rips, typically returning about 17%.

Why the average is 102% and the typical rip is 80%

Both numbers are real and they answer different questions. The typical rip — the median — is what happens on an ordinary pull: about 80% of what you paid comes back as card value. The average is pulled up to about 102% by a small number of pulls worth many times the pack price.

That is the product working as designed. You are buying a shot at a card worth far more than the pack, and the cost of that shot is that the ordinary outcome lands under the price. It is the same shape as opening sealed product at retail, with the difference that here it can actually be measured.

It also means a big pull on a site's live feed is the tail, not the middle. This board deliberately ranks on the middle, which is why a pack averaging 160% can still sit below one averaging 105%.

Where the strong packs actually are

The top of this board is entry and mid-priced single-card packs from the established operators. Shiny's $15 Pokémon Beginner pack typically returns about 107%, Courtyard's $25 Pokémon Starter about 106% on more than 8,000 pulls, and their $50 Pokémon Pro about 97% on nearly 3,600.

The bottom is the cheapest product on the board: Gacha's $1.50 Abyss Eye and Storm Emeralda rips at about 17%, and their $10 English Vault Rip at about 30%. So price alone tells you nothing — the $1.50 packs are the worst and the $15 pack is the best.

What does hold is that paying more does not buy a better rate. Pokémon packs on our board run from ten cents to $5,000, and the strong typical returns are clustered in the $15–$50 band rather than at the top end.

The value of a very large sample

Collector Crypt's Elite Pokémon Gacha pack has been sampled more than 129,000 times and returns a typical rip of about 82%. That is not an estimate any more — it is a description of the pack.

Figures like that are worth more than a higher number on a thin sample. A pack showing 120% on 100 pulls could move a long way; a pack showing 82% on 129,000 pulls will not. The board shows the sample size beside every return so the two can be told apart.

As a rule of thumb: treat anything under a few hundred pulls as a strong hint, and anything in the thousands as settled.

What actually comes out of a Pokémon pack

Mostly modern graded singles — PSA and CGC slabs from Scarlet & Violet-era sets, Evolving Skies and 151, plus their Japanese equivalents — with vintage Base Set and Neo cards appearing in the higher-priced packs.

Some sites sell sealed Pokémon product instead of graded singles: booster boxes, ETBs and packs you can open yourself. Those are a genuinely different proposition, priced against the sealed market rather than against a grade.

Every pack page lists that pack's actual recent pulls next to the operator's published odds, so you can see what has really been coming out rather than only what is advertised as possible.

Pokemon card rips: common questions

Which Pokémon rip pack has the best return?+

On measured pulls, Shiny's $15 Pokémon Beginner Pack and Courtyard's $25 Pokémon Starter Pack lead, both with a typical rip around 106–107%. Courtyard's has more than 8,000 sampled pulls behind it, which makes it the most solidly evidenced strong pack in the category. The board above is live and ranks every Pokémon pack we can measure.

Are Pokémon rip packs worth it?+

As entertainment they are the most fun and best-documented category here, and unlike buying sealed product at retail you can see exactly what a pack has been returning before you commit. The typical Pokémon rip comes back at about 80% of the pack price and the average at about 102%, the difference being the big pulls. Pick from the top of the board and the typical rip can beat the price outright.

Are the cheapest Pokémon packs the best value?+

No — the opposite, at the very bottom of the price range. Gacha's $1.50 rips typically return about 17%, the worst figures in the category, while Shiny's $15 pack leads it. The strong packs cluster in the $15 to $50 band rather than at either extreme.

Why do some Pokémon packs show over 100%?+

It means half the sampled pulls came back worth more than the pack cost, at the operator's own stated card values and before any buyback cut. That happens when a pack is priced generously — often an entry-level pack meant to bring people in. It is always worth checking the sample size behind a figure above 100%.

How many Pokémon pulls have you measured?+

Around 630,000 sampled pulls sit behind the Pokémon packs we rank, across 13 sites, from a catalogue of 191 packs across 21 sites. It is by far the largest sample on this site — Collector Crypt's Elite Pokémon Gacha pack alone accounts for more than 129,000 of them.

Figures on this page are measured from live pulls on the operators' own feeds, at their stated card values and the pack price in force at the time of each pull. Returns are gross — cashing a card back takes the site's buyback cut off the top. Written 2026-08-15; the board and the widgets update on their own. Full methodology →
